Reasons or Grounds for Divorce In Singapore

The reasons or grounds for divorce could be adultery, desertion for a period of over 2 years, and unreasonable behavior.

Additional grounds include 3 year’s separation with consent or 4 years without consent. Either one of the party must also live in Singapore.

Singaporean law states that one of a number of the above stated grounds needs to be met before a divorce will be considered or granted.

It’s not enough to just move back to Singapore for a divorce, as the courts require that either one of each couple must have resided in Singapore for three years in advance of filing for divorce.
